918.742.6702 Last week, we were scheduled to eat at Weber's Root Beer Stand, but had to change restaurant locations at the last minute because of the weather. So, we decided to drive less than a mile down the road to Elmer's BBQ.
Dee & JoshThe experience at Elmer's BBQ was great. As soon as you step foot in the restaurant, you feel like you've walked into Elmer's home. Friendly waitresses greet you at the door, jazz memorabilia cover the walls...you feel very welcomed. Our waitress, Dee, was a riot! She was funny, attentive and very easy going. If you eat at Elmer's, be sure to let Dee know the Hump Day Crew says "hi."

As for the food, it was ok. It's moderately inexpensive, but it's not the best BBQ I've had in Tulsa (I had the chicken and Andrew had the pulled beef and our bill was about $20). I wish the portions were larger. Some of the guys in our group had the ribs and they said they were amazing. So, definitely give them a try, if you head to Elmer's.
Overall, Elmer's BBQ was ok. Would I eat there again? Probably not...only if I was in a group that was wanting to eat there. For BBQ in Tulsa, I would definitely choose Knotty Pine.

After dinner, we decided to go down the road to have dessert at Caramel. It's a new bakery/restaurant in the Center One shopping center on Brookside. The owner of Caramel is actually the same owner of Cupcakzs located at 71st and Mingo.

I loved the simple, modern interior design of the new bakery. The desserts are fairly expensive, but they are all homemade. Andrew and I shared the chocolate truffle cake (imagine a chocolate molten cake...pictured above), which was about $9. It was delicious, but it wasn't anything to die for. The vanilla gelato was a different story though. It was amazing! I actually would have preferred just a bowl of vanilla gelato. The next time we visit Caramels, I'll definitely try the creme brulee with a side of vanilla gelato :).
