DIY: Inspiration Board

I've been following Bryn Alexander of Bryn Alexander Interiors for quite some time. If you've never visited her blog, you should! She's definitely an inspiration to me.

A few weeks ago she created an inspiration board for herself and another one for her client. After I saw these inspiration boards (IB), I knew it was time to create my very own IB. It's exactly what I've been looking for and I had the perfect spot for one...right above my desk.

They're really easy to make. All you need is...

a cork board/cork panel,

fabric (I used about 1.5 yards of fabric)

and spray adhesive.

To start, spray the front of the cork board and place it on the fabric (make sure the major wrinkles are out of the fabric).

Then, spray the sides of the fabric and start wrapping the cork board like a gift (be sure to keep the fabric as tight as possible).

Once you've finished, it should look like this.

To put the finishing touches on my inspiration board I decided to frame it. I found a black 24" x 36" frame in Michaels (on sale!) and took out the glass. To secure the inspiration board in the frame, I squeezed liquid nails on the inside ledge and sealed the frame with black duct tape (I know, I know...not a classy product, but it does the trick).

Here's the finished product...voila!

Now I just need to take it to Hobby Lobby this weekend to get a wire on the back and it'll be ready to hang! Woohoo!
